Democratic political experts who spoke with Politico expressed the belief that results in the Philly suburbs two weeks ago are the proverbial canary in the coal mine for Democrats.
Whereas Trump performed poorly the Philadelphia suburbs, which undoubtedly helped Democrats flip Pennsylvania blue, the pendulum is now swinging in the other direction, which will hamper Democrats' ability to win important elections.
Politico reported:
"Largely overlooked amid the party's dismal suburban results in Virginia and New Jersey last week, Republicans regained ground in the vote-rich Philly suburbs after years of losses under Trump. The GOP flipped multiple row offices in populous Bucks County, carried a state Supreme Court race there, and even came close to winning seats on the county council in Delaware County, where Biden romped by nearly 30 points in 2020."
The significance of Republicans gaining ground in suburban Philadelphia cannot be overstated.The development went overlooked amid Republican victories in Virginia and New Jersey two weeks ago.
