FLASHBACK: Wikipedia page for Biden's incoming chief of staff was scrubbed by Dem firm to hide corporate past

A Democratic consulting firm scrubbed the Wikipedia page of President Biden’s incoming chief of staff, Jeff Zients, prior to his appointment as the president’s COVID-19 czar in 2021 due to potentially politically damaging information.

Zients, the former White House coronavirus response coordinator who is succeeding chief of staff Ron Klain in the coming weeks, has faced left-wing criticism for his corporate past and the massive wealth he’s accumulated in the private sector.

Those details were sanitized from his Wikipedia page in the summer of 2020 by Democratic consulting firm Saguaro Strategies as Zients’ profile rose after he joined the Biden transition team. A Saguaro Strategies staffer confirmed to Politico at the time that the Wikipedia account was linked to the firm.

The page reportedly used to say that a chief executive on former President Obama’s jobs council remarked that he thought Zients, then a top Obama aide, was a Republican. That entry remains deleted. Certain information relating to Zients’ tenures at Bain & Company, Portfolio Logic, and Facebook was also deleted at the time, but much of it has returned.
