Pakistan 'shoots down two Indian jets' as world on brink after 'nuclear winter' warning

Pakistan has shot down two Indian Air Force jets in a fierce comeback after India's missile strike early Wednesday morning. The attack hit spots in Punjab and Azad Kashmir, leaving at least three Pakistani civilians dead and 12 injured.

India defended the strike as "focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature," aiming at "terrorist infrastructure" in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

But Pakistan is insisting the assault, which sparked huge blasts, mainly hit innocent people. The heat's been rising between the neighbours lately, and there's worry that if things blow up into all-out war, it could kick off a disastrous "nuclear winter" with worldwide fallout.
