Tragically, all 67 people aboard both aircraft died, making it the deadliest U.S. air disaster in nearly 24 years.
The Trump administration, through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), cut about 400 probationary employees from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), including those in roles that support safety inspectors and airport operations.
